Behold, Your Mother

Joh 19:26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, …” 27 … he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

Mother’s day has just passed but to be honest, every day should be Mothers’ Day. One person who had high regard for His earthly mother was Jesus. His affection, care, and great concern for His mother prompted Him to instruct John, His beloved friend, to care for her after His death and ascension. Now John was to be as a son and a guide to Jesus’ mother, a charge he gladly received. This honor put upon John was a testimony of trust.

It is a great honor to be entrusted by Christ to honor and cherish our mothers and others He brings to our care. Who better set the example but Christ who at the cross had 3 Mary’s, Salome, and other women present while many abandoned Him.

We show great regard for Christ who on the cross has said to us all, behold your parents/widows/orphans/grandparents for “There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother” (Pro 30:11). The best gift children can be to their mothers is to walk with Christ. Nothing from my experience grants my mom more peace, joy, and comfort than knowing that her 7 children with their spouses are serving the Lord. May all mothers feel special and cared for just as Jesus cared for His mother. Happy blessed Mothers daily.
