Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God
There are three types of peace, Peace with God, Peace of God and Peace in God. Jesus’ emphasis of peace in this beatitude is the peace with God made available through the preaching/sharing of the gospel. Rom 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have PEACE WITH GOD through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Justification by faith is the means by which men make peace with God, and blessed are they who proclaim it. Jas 3:18 “…a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace” In this gospel do we likewise extend our hands to make peace with our brothers, 2Co 13:11 “Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you”. Well befitting is the man whose God is the God of Peace, whose Savior is the Prince of Peace, whose hope is in the Gospel of Peace, whose joy is the very Peace of God that keeps his heart and soul. Joh 1:12 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”. We can not be peacemakers with men if we have not made peace with God from whom other graces, that is the peace of and peace in God flows from.
