He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

A Means Without God’s Aid Is Useless

2Ch 16:12 And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians

The Lord being gracious and slow to anger gave King Asa another chance to seek Him in his sickness, but he would not. He was so stubborn and stuck on his ways. He would die two years later trying his ways.

King Asa shows that it is useless to seek the physicians unless we first seek God who heals miraculously or through physicians as a means. Doctors treat but it is God who heals. Asa’s downfall was not because he worked with Syria or that he used medicine, it was because of his confidence in the created more than the Creator. Prov 3:3-8 “3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones”
