2Cor 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God
Ambassadors are ministers of the highest rank, called by the leader of the country to serve in another country on their behalf. They have full authority to represent their country in a foreign land. Christians are ambassadors for Christ, ministers with a highest rank representing the Kingdom of heaven with the gospel of reconciliation.
We are not of this world, we are citizens of heaven temporarily on assignment here on earth (country). No ambassador comes in his own authority and does what he wants, he is sent. Therefore he displays a lifestyle depicting his calling and what his country is all about. The calling is to implore men to reconcile to God. The ministry of reconciliation is to persuade men to receive God’s love and mercy, and to repent so that He can forgive their trespasses. The power that goes with the message proves that the message is from God and is effective.
