He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

Drifting From Running Well

Gal 5:7 You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

The life of a Christian is a race, wherein to run well you must hold fast the doctrine and practice. The Galatians ran for awhile in the light of grace, growing in knowledge of divine things. They ran with cheerfulness and without weariness in truth (the ways of Christ). At some point they became distracted and obstructed by false apostles in their progress that caused them to begin to drift from the truth.

Busyness, church activities, politics, news etc can be a distraction. They are not necessarily bad unless they are taking center stage and influence. If being in prayers, the word of God, serving others have become secondary, then you are drifting from running well and need to return to the first love. Peter had but one reminder for all believers that God “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,”(2Pe 1:3), that we may run this race with patience looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2).
