He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

Importunity In Prayer

Psa 27:9 Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me.

David as we in our experiences felt from time to time as if God’s face was hidden from him. He points out God’s anger due to sin and how that could cause Him to hide His face from him. Despite these truths, he reminds God of His help and salvation for him. God’s chastisement in these times may be for the heart to turn with more sincerity to Him for restoration, “His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; …” (Psa 30:5).

Mat 7:7Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Three key words, ask, seek, knock. Ask implies a simple petition, most people stop at this level. Seek indicates an earnest search. Knock is the act in desperation and perseverance in spite of hindrances. There is a feeling of uneasiness when we ask and it does not come. Rather than progress to the next level, we start to question the Lord’s care and the feeling of abandonment, condemnation, fear creeps in etc. The encouragement in such times should be, even if possible that we were to be forsaken by our nearest and dearest (father and mother), we are confident we would not be forsaken by God. We may rely upon God in the greatest extremities for Jesus said, “I will not leave you orphans” (Joh 14:18)
