Psa 91:14 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name
The motivation for our love for God is that He first loved us by giving His Son for us. His love demonstrated on the cross by Christ is the reason we know what love is.
No one has ever loved God with a perfect love apart from Christ. It is because of His love that by Himself or by His angels will He effectually deliver/rescue believers from perilous times. It is love set upon God that distinguishes those whom the Lord secures from all trouble. God says “….. I will set him on high, because he has known my name”. Psa 34:8 “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” David declares the goodness and faithfulness of God through His love. A child who knows his father’s love can trust his words when he says, “I will catch and hold you son when you let go of the branch you are holding on to”. Love secures trust.
