Joh 3:21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God
Jesus and Paul both declared that no one is good, no one does good, no one comes to the light. Men cannot come to the light unless they are drawn by the truth of the word, the Father draws by His word. Joh 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; …” This truth convinces sinners of how lost, dead, miserable they are without a Savior as we have already seen.
We do truth when we are made alive, “And you He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins”( Eph 2:1), “…that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” (Joh 3:21). In what way but by Eph 2:4 “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved”.
How do we fulfil good works if made alive, Rom 8:3-4 “3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous required of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
