He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

The Purpose Of His Star

Mat 2:1-12, 1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen HIS STAR in the East and have come to worship Him.”…vs 9 And behold, the STAR that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the STAR, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. 11 And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. …

The mention of His star and its purpose is a picture of the Holy Spirit (His Star). The Holy Spirit reveals Himself, draws us to Himself that He may lead us to see and worship Jesus the King of kings. In this we rejoice in the Holy Spirit because He is a great light focused on putting the spotlight on Jesus, always revealing Him in a greater way.

The Holy Spirit will never draw our attention from Christ to Himself, but rather reveal Christ in a fuller way. The Holy Spirit is His Star. Here is what Jesus said of the main work of the Holy Spirit, “13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you…”(John 16:13-15). The wise men saw and acknowledged the extra ordinary star and rejoiced at its revealing. However, they were not mistaken to worship the star. Without the star, they would not have found the Son to worship. The star was on a mission and so is the Holy Spirit is on a mission to lead us to glorify Christ.
