1Jn 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son.
The testimony of men is good and can be received continually however the testimony of men should not overshadow the testimony of God. His testimony is greater as in, higher of authority and does not fall short or fail.. “The testimony of the Father is, as it were, the basis of the testimony of the Word and of the Holy Spirit; just as the testimony of the Spirit is, as it were, the basis of the testimony of the water and the blood” [Bengel].
My testimony is secondary to His that is why we need to share His testimony of what He has done on the cross. Paul says, “we preach Christ crucified” (1Cor 1:23) which is greater and worthy testimony. Every one born again to a new life is a new demonstration of His testimony. Joh 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.” To have more focus on our testimonies over Christ’s is to be out of line. Our testimony should support not replace.
