He That Makes Me

Psa 23:2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; … (a)

The Bible says, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” Phi 1:6. This drives us to trust God’s providence.

The Israelites’ needs were met in the desert where nothing grows. God provided and sustained them. We have the supports and comforts of this life from God’s good hand, our daily bread. The priority of our daily bread ought to be His daily Word, the green pasture for our feeding and rest on all His promises. Everything else ties to this priority.

God’s ordinances are the green pastures in which food is provided for all believers; the word of life is the nourishment of the new man. God makes His saints to lie down; it is His doing. He gives them quiet and contentment in their own minds. God’s grace is sufficient, it is more than enough (green). God’s mercies are new every morning, (ever fresh).
