Psa 34:4-5, 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.
David fleeing his country because of Saul ended up in another hostile territory in Philistine seeking shelter. He had made enough enemies in this land and that for his safety, he pretended to be a madman in order to protect his own life.
In distress, David resolved to be his own advocate in prayer and supplication, earnestly seeking the Lord with his whole heart. David had learned the secret of going to God directly rather than wait for people to help him get there. He returned to the Lord who had earlier given him victory over the bear, lion, Goliath and Saul. His confidence was in God who always answers and He did, He delivered him from fears.
When you know God is for and with you, you will look confident and radiant. The presence of a big brother is enough to make you stand up to your threatening bullies. You trust that God cares and will protect you from life threatening bullies. “…the righteous are bold as a lion.” (Pro 28:1) because they have trusted themselves to God’s care.
David’s prayers silenced his fears; it revived and comforted him giving great composure, in that he became radiant because of his God.

When you know God is on your side, you have the kind of confidence above everything else. It’s the ultimate confidence.
