He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

If You Want To Be Perfect

Joh 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world… (b)

A rich young ruler called Jesus “good teacher” in asking Him what good thing he could do to attain eternal life. Jesus responded with “...Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God …if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” The ruler then asked18 …”Which ones?”. He thought you had a choice of what to keep. The Lord gave him 5 horizontal commandments and in vs. “20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “if you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me” 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.” (Mat 19:20-22).

He was given a rude awakening that to get to heaven, he needed moral perfection something he lacked (condemned), he loved his money more than God. And James puts the final nail on the coffin, For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all” (Jam 2:10). One bad egg is enough to ruin 9 good eggs. Without perfection (good) we are condemned.
