Pro 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life
Fire resistant safes are for securing valuables from theft, fire etc. In marriage, qualities left unsecured are bound to suffer when fire comes against them. Paul gives guidance of what NOT to keep in the safe, 1Cor 13:4-6, “4… love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity”.
True love gives qualities to be safeguarded, that is vs.”4 Love suffers long and is kind, …6…love rejoices in the truth,(God’s word); …7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails”. The state of the heart depends the character of the man, for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matt 12:34). A heart surrendered to God is a heart in God’s safe. Therefore, let the issues of life, which are said to spring from the heart, be those of eternal life. Let it show that the state of the heart depends on the salvation of the soul. Do not “follow your heart”, “lead your heart”.
