1Cor 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment
God by His Spirit unifies men with one mind, one purpose, one mouth to glorify His name. This was Jesus’ prayer that we be one (Joh 17:11). Our identity and ground for unity is found and shaped by the truth of His Word. This is also the ground we pray for one another, Rom 15:5-7 “5 Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus 6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ 7 Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God”.
By one miracle of tongues men were dispersed and gradually fell from the true religion. By another, national barriers were broken down that all men might be brought back to the family of God. In unity we break down anything that divides us and with courage we speak the same language to edify and glorify God. Let’s take to heart Paul’s plea in 1Cor 1:10.
