Rom 8:2-3, 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death
The law of the Spirit is “the gospel” the good news which freed us from the law of sin and death, the mosaic law.
Vs. “3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: …”. Note, the law was not weak, only through the flesh was it considered weak. The law only pointed the disease with no power to cure. Like a mirror, it only showed the true nature of sin with no ability to clean. It was incapable of conquering our evil nature, that is why God sent His own Son in the likeness of the sinful flesh to be the perfect sacrifice to satisfy the demands of the law.
“The law giver was the law keeper that He may justify the law breakers“ (Paris Reidhead). That means that all that God has commanded in the law is all He has provided in the gospel of His Son. You can only now keep the laws through Christ who perfectly kept them.
